THE RULES AND REGULATIONS
Man, our last ruleset was really pretentious and stuffy. So hey, the guys in charge are Brandon and Josh, here-to-for referred to as B and J.
That’s definitely not the kind of atmosphere we’re looking to cultivate here so we figured we’d throw out the old rulebook and introduce a new one that’s hopefully devoid of all that stuffiness and whatever.
Here’s the deal. We’re here to have fun. We have stories we want to tell and we apparently can only be successful at telling them via this platform. For most of us, this has been efed home for an embarrassingly long amount of time. Wins and losses aren’t super important to the overall scheme of things, so if you’re looking for a place where you can crank out 5,000 words over and over again to destroy your opponent? That’s not really what we’re about here.
We also are looking to avoid any and all drama that can come up out of character (obviously in character drama is what we’re after). We’re not perfect, so I recognize that there will be times when opinions differ and that may lead to some heated exchanges, but as long as we’re able to talk through that junk like adults and move forward it’s all good.
NOW THEN. Onto the nuts and bolts of this thing.
THE NUTS AND BOLTS
Over the years, SHOOT has had all kinds of different RP limits and timelines and whatever. When we decided to bring this back, we all agreed that we wanted to streamline as much of everything as we possibly can. So that means we’re going to deviate from what we know again and change things up.
First things first, our new focus is going to be on the overall health of the product. This means that in addition to RPs counting, so does your on card participation and any angle that may be going on. Really, we would love to see RPs, on card segments, and all that, but if it doesn’t work out for a given show, then it doesn’t work out. No big deal.
We’re only start to get concerned if you go more than that one show without some form of participation. We’re still going to cap RPs at 2 over the course of the show. We don’t think that anyone would spam RPs in hopes that they would win off of that, but you never know, so here’s the official stance on it.
We want to see things that help move the stories forward. The RP aspect of this game used to be the be all end all, and what we want now is more to have the RPs supplement what happens on the shows. It’s kind of a change from where we used to sit on this issue but it’s one that we think will help the health of the SHOOT Project overall. We will find ways to work with you if you feel like your characters are unsuccessful or anything like that and will actively try to aid in alleviating that concern.
As far as the shows go, here’s what we’re looking at. Revolution will be the main bi-weekly show. It will occur on Friday. Deadlines for all show related materials and RPs will be at 11:59pm EST the day before. This gives us ample time to put the shows together on Friday and allows us to keep to the two week schedule rather than pushing back and waiting and all that.
On that topic, our attitude towards the show is as follows: If we don’t have your stuff in, we will not wait for it. The show will go up on Friday with or without the things you’ve agreed to write. So, if you’ve agreed to write a match, it needs to be in the mailbox by the deadline or if you’ve contacted us and we’ve said “yeah it’s cool if it’s in during the day on Friday” then obviously that’s cool too. We want to limit that though, so don’t make it a habit. With the lack of reliance on RPs, we feel that it shouldn’t be nearly as stressful as it used to be.
Here are some very useful e-mail addresses to have as it pertains to show stuff:
Now, how do you join this thing?
It’s pretty easy. You go here: APPLY HERE you fill that form out and one of us will get back to you within 48 hours. If you don’t hear from us in that timeframe, please don’t hesitate to jump on the forum and shoot a PM to someone with a red name (That’s gonna be J or B) and we’ll get it looked at right then and there.
Once you’re accepted, you’re free to post RPs and whatnot as you like. You’re more than welcome to participate in OOC stuff as well, as an aside.
IF YOU NEED TO GET IN TOUCH
B and J can be reached a number of ways, either via Facebook, Google Hangouts, or through their personal e-mails which are posted in a more private forum. If you have something come up, just want to talk, or anything like that please don’t hesitate to reach out.
This is one of the most critically important aspects to making this a successful venture. If you need to step away, can’t get something done that you thought you could, or anything along those lines – PLEASE reach out. There will be no public shaming, nothing like that. If you have a private matter that you don’t wish to discuss, just say “hey I’ve got a private matter that I don’t wish to discuss” and that’s enough for the two of us.
That’s probably enough OOC rules for now. We’ll be back with the lay of the land from an in character perspective.
