Dube if you could have any baseball player come to the brewers (or stay on the brewers) for next season, but it would mean you'd have to give up your hate for BJ Raji and you'd have to buy a jersey and wear it on gamedays.. would you?

Dube Dube Doo, where are you?

We got some work to do now.
Sitting in my favorite chair in the main living room, watching TV.

For you guys:

How do YOU read "Dube?"  Do you see it as "Doobie" or "Doob?"

Please ask me this in mid-September.  I'll have a better idea how to answer then.

Time for another round of "Dube Asks the Audience":

How reliant is the pic on how you view the character?  If you saw an updated image of the person, would it affect your image of Seton?

Because of the mystery value.

In one universe, it was a couple nights ago.  In a second, it was three weeks ago.  In a third, it's never happened.

Why is it classified?

It came down to either the Bill Buckner error game (1986 World Series) or the Kirk Gibson HR game (1988 World Series).

I still remember the moment of watching the HR as a kid, so I choose game one of the 1988 World Series.

I can't come up with a specific one, but any game involving Babe Ruth so I could say "I saw him play."

What did you do for the 4th?
Worked until 6PM, then went to my uncle's for his homemade pizza and watched the Twilight Zone marathon on SyFy.

If you meant stuff like fireworks--Oshkosh's were on the 3rd, so...did the TZ marathon, then went to my uncle's, had some burgers, then went to watch fireworks.

I'm looking forward to at least one booming shot by Fielder like he hit a few years ago against Doug Davis.

Butt hash:

So you get a jar, a balloon, and some friends.  You all crap and pee into the jar and stretch the balloon over the top.  You let it sit overnight and the balloon inflates from the gases.  The next day, you take off the balloon and huff away.  It probably has other names, but that's the term I first heard for it.

5. Kevin Youkilis

I wanted to publicize Youk's being Jewish, so that knocked out Koufax.  On top of that, family bias took over re: Holtzman.

The 5 (not necessarily in order):

1. Laura's picbase
2. Stokke
3. Jennie Finch
4. Maria Sharapova
5. Alex Morgan

Are you pleasantly suprised with KRod so far?
Title: Re: Ask a Dube!
Post by: Laura Seton on July 28, 2011, 09:53:31 PM
1st question: It's none of the obvious choices.  Not the Brewers because they depress me enough as a fan at home; they'd kill me if I followed them, plus I'd have to be near Corey Hart.  Not the Packers because they'll be a disappointment, plus I'd have to be near BJ Raji.  Off the top of my head, I'd have to say the Phillies or possibly K-State football (only because I kind of miss the atmosphere out there, not because of the team itself).

2nd question: So far?  Yes.  Ask me in a month (maybe even a week) and I'll probably say "no."

That one guy who played QB with the Vikings the last two years I hated more (during said tenure) than Hart and Raji combined.

what's your fear level of the Vikings with Donovan McNabb as Vikings QB as compared to last year with Favre?
I certainly don't have the immense hatred for them as I did the last two years.  They'll do whatever they do and I won't feel one way or another.  McNabb is past his prime but I think he still knows what he's doing out there.  I'm not saying he creates an offensive powerhouse, but if they finish last in the division, it'll probably be because their defense sucks.

Scotty 1.A: Taken from storyline leading up to it--If Hazard hadn't fallen away from LEGACY at the end, I would've answered "Haz vs. Entragian."  Probably because it's still 'recent' (if you call December recent), Greyson vs. Rawlings.  There's probably a different one from way back, but I'm pressing myself to answer this sooner rather than later.

1.B: I didn't until you informed me the other day.  If it had been filmed AFTER he broke his 0-45 streak, I'd be more inclined to watch it.

Jer: I'd like to suck up and say "Yes," but I can't lie this time.  No, it isn't.

B: I think being in early childhood education (in general, there's a few moments I can pick out)--which would put me about 4 or 5 years old.

Russell Branyan was number one until this season.  Nyjer Morgan (including 'alter-ego' Tony Plush) has now overtaken him.

Cincy: I can say (in fact, already did elsewhere :)) that I was at the Reds' "Homer Fest" Saturday night.

I'm not asking this to be incendiary or anything, but just out of psychological curiosity, but what's with the super political correctness that accompanies the way you do things?  Is it just a way you've always been?  I don't have an issue with it, just something I'm curious about.  Most people have a little depravity about them, so I wonder if you do as well. :)

Scotty (1): The view from their Riverfront club (got in there via stadium tour) or whatever it's called is awesome with view of the nearby river to the right.  The stadium's "gimmick" (like, Milwaukee has Bernie's Slide, Houston has the hill, the Mets and the apple, etc...) is the set of smokestacks in right-centerfield.  Fireworks come up after homers, so it was cool seeing those go off.  Plus, when an opposing batter strikes out looking, a stream of smoke comes out of them as well.  Overall it's a good stadium.  I should note, and forgot to get the picture or I'd have posted it here, in the entrance to their team Hall of Fame, there's a Mickey Mouse statue completely decked out in Reds clothing and the logo.  It was disturbing to see.  And what do you mean by road hijinx?  The only thing I can think of is nearly losing my mind in traffic coming from Cincy to MD.

Josh: The more I thought about it, it's how I've always been.  I have my dark side and it'll sometimes come out at work and when I'm with my close friends, but otherwise what you see is what you get.

Jer: As long as SHOOT stays open long enough and my side stories can play out, you'll see--maybe not 'disturbing,'--but things that may seem odd considering I'm the one writing.  Case in point: Maddie having "crime scene."  Granted, Scotty and MJ had to explain to me what it was when I first saw the term, but, yeah.

Scotty (2): They aren't dead yet.

Josh: Because I wouldn't have much to keep up with you guys.  I don't have enough material like MJ does.

Scotty: Do you want an all-inclusive list or just within the past couple years?  Because I have b-ball jerseys from when I was in middle school and shirzees that go back about 8 years.  Yes, I still have some of those.

Jer: I'm not a big fan of the perm, so even proverbially I'd never get one.

TV Guilty Pleasure: I don't think I have one.  I only watch sports and educational stuff.  If we count DVDs, I guess "ALF."

I think I'd rather be an All-Time great that didn't get the cash.

For STUPID cash: I'd buy the Milwaukee Brewers.  If that actually doesn't count for absurd, then I'd buy as many DVDs as I could.

I'm in the camp of "Let's see him actually succeed."  I've seen tons of "can't miss" prospects flame out.  He was starting to sway me before the injury, so now I'm back to "Let's see him succeed."

I'm very aware of Scotty's mancrush.  He was horrifying me last year.  As much fun as it would be to bash the heck out of him, all I can do now is just play the "Please stop" card if Scotty goes 'ooh la la' over him again the instant he takes the mound in DC again.

How about the Mickey Morandini one?  Unbelievable they sell that one.  I assume you mean a current one, so I'd say Roy Halladay.  If you wanted to include past Phils, I'd actually say Lenny Dykstra.

I hit up Cincy then DC and then Philly with nights in Pittsburgh and just outside Indy.  Scotty called me a magnet for natural disasters.  I didn't see Cincy or Indy get hit with anything, but maybe a tornado rips through.

What souvenirs did you buy on your trip?
Programs from the Reds, Nats and Phils games I went to.  A Reds shirt, Jordan Zimmerman and Hunter Pence shirzees, two Smithsonian t-shirts (one which glows in the dark), a Smithsonian sweatshirt.  Bobbleheads of Johnny Bench and Ian Desmond and a Reds beverage pitcher with two cups (promo items from the games/trip to the Reds Hall of Fame).  And two fare cards from DC Metro and a SEPTA Independence pass (souvenirs since they're now worthless).

Dubey Downer says 8-8 at best.  The small shred of confidence in Dube says 10-6.  At Giants, at Chargers and at Falcons will make or break the season.  Unless they just flat-out suck.

I can post extremely lightweight, general feedback and have 2 (hopefully) quality RPs...or I can have 2 really crappy RPs and leave detailed feedback.  If I get an RP up tomorrow night, there's a chance feedback can happen before the next show.

Kidd, don't subject him to that...  Even Drew cringes at that.

Otherwise, the question.  Packers, are they repeating?

No.  I'll avoid a Dubey Downer rant--so simply, no.

Maybe it was the lockout, but I'm not really excited over the NFL this year.  I'll still watch it, but I'm not going to be 'tied' to it as much as I always had been.  It's never too early to be a Downer, but it's hard to be in mid-season form when the season is just starting.

I don't expect the Brewers to do much against Philly because they're facing Hamels, Halladay, Lee and Worley.  A sweep doesn't *kill* their chance for the division, but it won't make me feel any better.  I'd say between the two sports before the games, it was at about "5."

Rich is blowing smoke up your ass Dube. That movie is incredibly educational and it teaches you all kinds of interesting things about the human anatomy. Will you trust your ole' pal Jer and check it out?
I read the back of the box for it when we originally got in.  It got my attention.  Maybe it's in my Netflix queue, maybe it isn't.

Yes, but I'd rather not relive/ever discuss that day again for the rest of my life.

How many sports autographs do you have?
Way too many.  I have nearly a full wall in bedroom with signed 8x10's.  Then there's a couple of signed game-used jerseys, a signed game-used cap, and numerous signed scorecards.

Dube, did you totally just mock El Asso Wipo? He is not going to be happy when he sees this.
That's his problem.

Thoughts on krods tweet and prince saying he wont be back.. And their timing?
K-Rod: Obviously the dude wants to close, that's where the $$$ is.  Yes, Milwaukee said he'd get save chances and in that sense they've been bush league; although the disclaimer on that is "when Axford needs a rest."  He and Ax are used in the same game almost all the time, so when Ax needs a rest, K-Rod would as well.  However, telling a guy he can get saves and not use him for any--that's kind of low.  However, K-Rod's being a goofball coming public with this.  If anything, Roenicke needs to pull K-Rod aside and say, "Don't talk to the media.  Talk to me."  With the way Milwaukee's been playing lately, there won't be many save chances the rest of the way to complain about.

Prince: This isn't news.  Everyone knows he won't be in Milwaukee next year and have known that for the past couple seasons.  It just happens to be brought out now.  Someone asked him the question and instead of saying, "You never know" and giving false hope, he's being honest.  It's only a story because he reiterated what he's always been saying, while there's a playoff race.  If Milwaukee isn't in the race, there's probably no article.

Timing: I'm sure the clubhouse knows the deal with both guys.  They should be big boys.  If this really causes a problem and disrupts their play, they don't deserve to win the division.

Rooting for: Atlanta and Tampa.
Expecting: St. Louis and Boston.  I'd appreciate if the Phils could lay down for Atlanta.

dube what did Braun do to appear to be a cocky SOB?
Whenever he hits a huge home run, he usually looks to the Brewer dugout with a smug expression while walking a few steps to first.

When he hit a HR to break the Brewer single-season rookie HR mark (or maybe tie), he walked maybe a quarter of the way down the line while looking at Fielder in the dugout--I'd post a vid but I can't find one.  After his HR Friday, he holds the bat up after hitting the ball, gets the smug look and walks a few steps.  Yeah, it was celebration mode with the last one--but I'm still surprised with baseball's 'unwritten rules' that he didn't get plunked the next night.

Personally, I think it's cool and of course not close to the douchy-ness of what Bryce Harper can pull--just curious on an 'outsider's' opinion.

In La-La Land.

Will you go to any playoff games?
I probably would have said "No" if I saw this before today; not just "no" because I don't think the series gets back to Milwaukee.

It's not because of a lack of ticket(s) but because of parking.  You pretty much *have* to have purchased a pass in advance in order to park.  AND after the game they actually enforce the "Get out of the lot after an hour" rule--I don't like leaving until traffic is extremely light (read: About 90 minutes after a game) because I don't do well in heavy traffic.  The route I take involves two extremely congested areas after a game.  This is a reason why I wish Milwaukee was big enough to have a subway system.  It's so much easier to deal with things when you just have to park at a far-off station, as I learned in DC and Philly.

are you nervous?
I just didn't want to lose to St. Louis.  I wouldn't have cared if it was Philly.  St. Louis irritates me.  At this point, down 2-1 with a crappy Randy Wolf and a not-so-good-on-the-road Greinke--I'm scared Prince may have already played his final game at Miller Park as a Brewer.

Supposed to have 2-4" inches of snow overnight (speaking Saturday night to Sunday) with some rain to freeze things.  Basically it was a false alarm since we barely had any rain and the snow couldn't have been more than an inch or two.  It was pretty cold with the windchill thanks to strong wind gusts.

About seven minutes of one.

I hate being "only watch a team when they're good" guy, but this team has been so bad lately (discounting two years ago) plus the two lockouts, I'm basically at that point.

It was okay with them being terrible when I was in junior high and high school but mix in the '98-'99 lockout which cut some of my interest and THEN the latest lockout--I just don't care anymore.  If the Bucks were to ever move?  I wouldn't cry.

I'm new... Explain "milk and cookies." Is that just how wholesome she is? Or what?
It is just how wholesome she is.  You name it and she probably hasn't done it.

And now that you're back postwhoring, why can't you eat from sundown to sundown again?
Yom Kippur is upon us!  Hooray fasting!

Until you get hungry.

And realize you can't eat cuz it's a day of repentance.

Sundown can't get here soon enough.....

Never.  The offense has been exposed as pass-only.  Unless a defense snoozes through a Sunday, he'll be only league-average.

Pass Only + bad o-line makes for bad math. See:  Eagles.  Only with the eagles its MORE frustrating cuz they have a top 3 RB.   I know your pain Dube.  Only Aaron Rodgers is amazing.  Mike Vick, much less so.  And he, unlike Jerry Lawler means something entirely different shrieking "PUPPIES!"

It's tough to convert and depending on how conservative the group you're joining is, it could take quite a bit of effort to show them how serious you are about being converted.

what's your take on kaballah?  (ignore my heathen spelling)

I had a friend take me to a Chabad house for an evening and we started getting into Kabbalah.  It was a pretty cool discussion that was gotten into.  Lots of deep thinking and stuff like that.

what is kaballah? ignore MY heathen spelling.

Jewish mysticism, in short.

Apparently it's the citadel of Algiers in Algeria, unless the internet is lying to me.  So I would guess no; though one could throw rocks at it.  Maybe you should throw this question towards The Clash.

Oy vey is like "Oh for heaven's sake" or some other like exclamation of dismay.  Yes, that question did make me say that. *fears he has offended Jer*  ....Um, I mean, no.  No I did not.

Ahem... Pre-emptive nerd rant incoming:

For anyone who wants to piss and moan and whine about how his name is The Doctor and not Doctor Who or Dr. who, shut up.

In the original title cards, Hartnell is credited as Dr. Who, not as The Doctor. Yes, the character has regenerated, the show has evolved, and things have changed. But just because things have changed, doesn't mean that the old stuff is irrelevant or wrong.

Instant replay can't cure everything.

Even when it can, you may not have a challenge, so it doesn't matter.

People that push off in the endzone, and it's BLATANTLY obvious, are really starting to piss me off.  Even if there's a point where a Packer does it and winds up costing them a potential game winning TD, CALL THE DAMN PENALTY!!!!11

I may not totally like that trade you were offered, but considering the junk you have--I'd favor taking it.  It's a matter of if you can trust Shanahan to stick with Morris and not go back to his "I'll screw fantasy players and go half-and-half with my RBs."

I have no idea.  I have zero clothes that could even be considered for the costume.

What's the point of blaming it on someone when no one knows who I am, anyways?  If they want to think it's me, fine--not like I'm ever going to see that person/those people ever again.

I wouldn't blame that on Raji; but I'd blame quite a bit more of life's problems on him.

Two while she was in Legacy or 2 who in LEGACY?  Cuz if its roster members, then it'd be 3 during that time I reckon.

Two while in LEGACY.

I remember Loco and her boyfriend from home.

Dan Stein rocked her so good, he counts as two.

She'd probably wet herself in more ways than one and hope Dan could recover enough for 'seconds' in no less than 3 minutes.

When you have two tanned individuals, it makes for an exciting mix.  Rumor has it they went just short of a half hour once.  You'd have to check with Loco on that, though.

If you could write a storyline post for any character in SHOOT that isn't your own, who would you like to explore?

What would you like to write about them doing/experiencing/coping with?

((Asking everyone this question because it's awesome.))

Isaac is too popular and obvious a choice, but if I did pick, I'd go with the moments/days leading up to that EXACT moment he "broke" from his father's abuse.  What he was like when he was kinda normal in the head.

But that's not the pick.  Amongst a couple others, at the top of my list would be the newcomer Henry Gordon.  I'd play around with him and the LEGACY atmosphere.  Even if it's something Rob has in mind of not being a part of his backstory (maybe Rob's idea is fictional Rob is just his uncle and Henry never hung around him and if this was addressed before, I somehow missed it).

Anyways--I'd go through interactions the young Henry would have had with the LEGACY guys and if he got any tips and possible bullying/disrespect he would have received.

If I were 'assigned' a character, if they were a bad guy I'd go with the, like Isaac, moment they 'broke' and turned on everyone.  Otherwise, it would be the past--possibly as far back as childhood--and why they decided to become a pro wrestler and the hard road taken at the beginning of his/her career.

IF Larry Sanders could play all season like he did last night and IF Mike Dunleavy could be set up for wide-open looks at 3's, they would be quite dangerous.

However, Larry's just a defensive specialist and I doubt he gets near 17 points again (not being a downer--he's a seriously a bad offensive player).  They have lots of big bodies, the problem is most of them can't score.  I don't like that they have two ballhogs in Jennings and Monta Ellis, but IF Jennings can keep dishing out 10+ assists a game, it won't be so bad.  If he and Monta are hoisting at least half the team's shots a game--yuck.

It's feasible they finish with about 35-38 wins, hit .500 if they get a little luck and just might be the 8th seed in the East.  Sadly, in these parts that would be looked at as a successful season, even if they got swept out in the first round.

The man can COACH!  I don't know how he gets things done and gets the best out of these non-superstar kids and turns them into a darn good team, but he does.

If anything has shown how huge a deal he is, one should seek out the Ron Prince era.  Yeah, KSU wasn't doing too great at the end of Snyder's first tenure but they were on the way back to being garbage before he came back and now---well, yeah... He probably *should* be Coach of the Year because who really saw KSU doing what they're doing this year (even if they lose a couple times), but if he's not in the top 4 of final CotY voting, something's wrong.

Somewhere Hayden Fry smiles at his former assistant.

Colin Cowherd.  He may say outlandish things to get attention, but I think he's an airhead regardless.

Stuart Scott has become more annoying than anything else.

Believe it or not, I don't mind Skip Bayless.  I'm in the camp that he doesn't believe most of what he says, he just says it because it usually is against common thought--so it doesn't agitate me.  Plus, he sounds pretty funny coming up with his BS points.

Back to the radio side--while I don't mind Freddy Coleman, he certainly sucks at his job.  He tries too hard to be funny.

I get why the deal was done.  For the first four, maybe five years, the money for him will be worth it.  But the last few years when he's in the 35-37 years of age span, I certainly wouldn't want to be paying him an average of $17.25 million (probably more those last few years, I don't know).

Then again, I'm used to a team not be able to afford the risk of paying out that kind of money and NOT have it affect the rest of the money they can afford for salary.  At least until 2016 when Braun gets $19 million.

Alex Green: Third down back.  Nothing more.  That's been shown.

James Starks: I like the guy.  He's useful enough and can get the yardage per game needed to make defenses honest.  Problem is he's too injury prone.

John Kuhn: He's a fullback, so... yeah.

Jonny White: Special teams player and emergency depth for RB.  No opinion.

Cedric Benson: I was surprised he was coming around as strong as he was when he got hurt.  I think he was just a one-year guy here, but it would have been nice if his one season wasn't cut short.

Well, he won't be let go of/traded during that contract.

If he's even semi-productive at the end of the contract, say about .275 and hitting around 20 HR's... maybe it's still an overpay what he'd be getting then, but it wouldn't be an albatross contract.

What do you want from him? 100pts in the CCG?
Better clock management and more effective play calling.  He's a *nice* coach, even a *good* coach, but he's not *great*.  Even during his first year he was getting flak.  "He's only winning because he inherited this team.  Wait until he gets his own players."

If Bielema had taken over WI with the program in the same state as it was when Alvarez took over and produced the results he's gotten since he took over in 2006, he would be hailed as a savior for the program.

It may have just been bad timing, taking over the greatest coach the school ever had and unless he won a national title, Bielema was going to be ripped apart no matter what.  Kind of like the situation in GB when a certain QB was traded.  Rodgers wasn't disliked as much as Bielema, but until he won the Super Bowl, a number of fans didn't care for him.  They then shut up.

Dubey Downer's feelings on Mike Daniels?
Downer: He had his moment in the spotlight and that TD return will be the highlight of his career.  He'll be nothing more than a backup and just another name on the all-time roster that no one will ever remember.

Normal Dube: I like what I've seen so far.  After the crappy defense of last year, anything's an improvement, but he's been all right.  He's no superstar and may never be, but he's a nice player.  He may not start any time soon, but he's a quality backup.

There probably was one in Overland Park, KS which was no more than 10 minutes from me when I was in Olathe--I never looked into it but OP has a good Jewish population.

There's nothing in Oshkosh, though.  I'd guess the closest would be in Milwaukee.

I'm indifferent, to be honest.

My dad sort of likes them, since he went to a number of their games growing up (including game 7 of the '58 Series against New York).

My mom (who isn't a baseball fan) HATES them because they moved to Atlanta.  She still remembers her mom flipping out when hearing the news and the community's reaction.

I guess I'm the average of their emotions.

Hmmm... interesting question, DOES Loco still hate the hell out of her?  What do you think?

My thoughts, would be no.  He would have attempted to befriend her and I think did with his SHOOT face run.  Or at least do "water under the bridge"/"let bygones be bygones" type shit.  Honestly he said way more hateful disgusting vile shit at Tres Bien's expence in LEGACY, and Maya forgave him.  :D  And after all THAT, she is a heel now.  So who knows.

Are he and madison still friendly?
Title: Re: Ask a Dube!
Post by: Laura Seton on December 11, 2012, 12:39:25 AM
If he's not going to be caught, I say "yes."

If he's going to be outted later by a teammate, say 10 years after winning the World Series, I say "yes."

If he's caught RIGHT AFTER the series, I'd be upset, but I'd still say "yes."

Why?

Because it's the freaking Brewers.  They need ALL the help they can possibly get.  I'll take them winning the World Series (almost) any way they can.

I was initially thinking "yes" but thinking more about it, he probably doesn't.  He tried, tried, tried, tried oh so hard to piss her off in LEGACY and it sorta worked but maybe not to the extent he hoped.  Then he lost.  So with that out of the way, he figured it wasn't worth riling her up anymore.  He had better things to worry about.

Although maybe he hates her again since she's gone heel.

And I think he and Maddie are still quite 'friendly.'

Why don't you do my college bowl pickem?
Bowl games are too often nothing more than a coin flip.  There's been too many times in the past where teams that have NO business winning wind up doing so.  It's like the favored team had hoped for a bigger bowl game, got 'stuck' in a minor one and therefore didn't care and lost.

Upsets are awesome, but they seem too often in bowl games.  Maybe I just have selective memory.

Best Brewers off-season move?
This year or all-time?  I presume all-time because they haven't really made any major league-level moves.

Off-season move this year: Two, actually, but it falls under the same blanket: Avoiding free agency all together.  Glad they avoided Hamilton and even happier they avoided Dempster.  Their GM says they'd stay out of the market if they couldn't get Dempster (and lord knows if he's telling the truth), and he'd best hold to that.

Ever: One of two.

In 1980, they got catcher Ted Simmons, pitcher Pete Vuckovich (1982 Cy Young winner) and closer Rollie Fingers (Cy Young winner in 1981) in exchange for outfielders Sixto Lezcano and David Green and pitchers Lary Sorensen and Dave LaPoint.

Simmons, Vuckovich and Fingers were big players in the 1982 World Series run and they didn't give up too much.

Either that trade or the Greinke trade two years ago.

A hot, steamy, overly passionate night with Jennifer Morrison.  EVERYTHING possible fogs up.  She gets it where God (or whatever being is out there) intended for her to get it.  She gets it in the ass.  She even gets it in the mouth.  Most actions could hurt like all hell for her.  But she's delighted.  It's an all-night orgasm for her.  There's nothing that won't please her.  And when we wake up the next morning, she wants to be with me forever.

Yes.

They take all the credit for him.  Hey, I'm glad to say he was a Badger, but he's not a true Badger.

He's a North Carolina State guy.  THEY should get the real credit.  WI just lucked into him for a season.

Yes.  BUT...

One time per person.  Limit of 3.

No one gets more than three minutes with her.  No one is allowed to do more than simply put their hands on her during... you know... 'activities.'  No heavy thrusting or doing anything that MIGHT hurt her (read: Skull doings).  No peeing on her or anything worse.  If she likes that stuff, that's for me to do.

What do you dislike about the ESPN MNF coverage?
I HATE that it's on cable; bring it back to non-cable like ABC.  I know most people have cable nowadays, but I'm old-school and think everyone should have access to MNF.  If it's that big a deal, they should.  I personally feel SNF is the 'true' game of the week.

And I ABHOR Jon Gruden.

There's a purple house on the other side of Oshkosh I've had my eye on.  But I don't think I could do pink.

Sure.  I'm not one to believe in haunted houses.  Hey, if the murders cause for it to be a cheaper price too...

Title: Re: Ask a Dube!

My definition of horror is the fright factor. I don't think blood and guts makes a horror film. The gross out factor isn't (to me) what makes a horror movie. So, based on fright, favorite horror film?

I guess "Saw".  Looking over favorite movies, ones that could fit under 'horror' are really more 'thriller' than anything.  Something like "Silence of the Lambs."  Obviously I don't watch many true horror films.

Follow up answer: Totally agree.  Horror should be on being terrified, not the amount of bloodshed.

Isn't "Horror" about being "horrified"? As in, I'm horrified by the amount of gore that I'm seeing, or I'm horrified by the terrible things happening to those people?

Thriller is about being spooked and surprised and jumping and being on the edge of your seat because you know they're going into a creepy place where they might die.

I'd classify PSYCHO as a Thriller but not a Horror, per say.

Some movies can be both, but I can't think of examples right now because I don't like horror films.

ZOMG! cross-thread quoting!

Quote
Minnesota @ Green Bay
- Minnesota.  They know exactly how to beat GB now.  Plus, it's cold weather which means more running.  Which means more AP.  And GB has proven in both games they can't stop AP.  So unless it's a fluke playoff game like when they held Barry Sanders to -1 rushing yard (yes, that total was the WHOLE game), MN has this one wrapped up.

Wasn't that game close until the very end...? Didn't they just BARELY beat Green Bay? It's not like they somehow now have "the solution", ya know?

Quote
Seattle @ Washington
-Washington.  Another toss-up since Seattle is a 'hot team' but they don't do well on the road and Washington has plenty of weapons.

Washington has won 7 straight games, Seattle only 5 straight.

So wouldn't Washington be THE 'hot team'?

Not a chance.

The thing is, with "Saw" I was intrigured by the traps.  I didn't care about the actual gore when it happened.  And if anything, I'd laugh at what would happen when a trap went off.  Because either it's fiction, so I don't have a real 'attachment' to the people (not trying to sound smarmy there), or because I'm a horrible person.

I hate gore for the pure sake of gore in horror movies. It's just filler to compensate for the fact that they can't think up a halfway creative story.

What's your preferred genre of movies? Drama? Comedy?

No.  They do.  Green Bay's kicker can't make a field to save his life.  I don't care how well he's done the past few weeks, he hasn't 'figured it out.'  If it comes down to kicking, MN wins.

And I don't care if it was close to the end.  GB was playing terrible defense in general and couldn't get 3rd down stops when they absolutely HAD to have them (see: 3rd and 11 on that last drive).  This will be about AP.  He's "the solution."  Green Bay is not a physical team at all.  They can't tackle a hoss like him.  I knew very teams can tackle him, but GB is about the least qualified team to do so.  MN just demonstrated how to beat Green Bay.  There's no reason they can't do it again, especially when they're playing them again with in a 6 day span.

Washington hasn't blown anyone out of the water in that time.  Sure, Seattle had to have a last-minute score to beat the Rams, but otherwise they were killing it the weeks before and moreso against the 2-seed SF.

Win streaks aren't always the story.  GB had a pretty long one last year.  How did that work out in the end?

Makes me sad, but it's obvious he's lost a step.  There were a number of passes early in the season that he normally would have picked off, but this merely knocked down.  Just hope he doesn't haunt them next season.

Any Free Agents you Fancy for the Packers?
Steven Jackson, I guess.  He's old for a RB but they need SOMEONE back there that's shown they can handle a full-time gig.

I have no idea on any others because any other top ones, they won't bother with and offhand I don't know who the lower-tier FA's are.

Who is the most famous Jewish football position player?
Ever?  Current?  Famous for playing football, or someone that played football but became famous for other reasons?  Many different ways to answer.  And I think I know what you're going to say.  But I'll let you say it because it gives you a cheap postwhore moment. :P
Which non-fiction science fiction movie do you wish you were a character in the most?
I don't think I understand this as it's phrased.

All of the above.

Which science fiction and/or non-fiction movie do you wish you were a character in the most. And which character?

Ever: Sid Luckman.  One of the dominant QB's from the 1940's and is in the HOF.  I suppose you could argue Lyle Alzado, a pro-bowl DL in the '70s and '80s; though he may be best remembered for openly admitting to using steroids.

Current: Taylor Mays of Cincy or Gabe Carimi of the Bears.

Famous for other reasons: Bill Goldberg.

✿◕‿◕✿

Is this smug little asshole your new favorite smilie?

If not, which is your favorite text smilie?
Yes, he is.  I don't use smilies much, but when I do, I tend to go with :P so that was the favorite before.

From my Dominican girlfriend:

"Isn't Aaron a girl's name?"
"Erin" is a girl's name; though some guys use that spelling too.

I would probably get him/her one while still in elementary school once he/she started joining after school activities in case they had an emergency or if I wasn't able to pick him/her up on time.

I'd probably get the smartphone at some point in their high school days.

are you allowed to eat potatoes?
Yes, and thank God because Passover starts tonight.  That's one of the few good-tasting (IMO) foods that are kosher for Passover.  It's gonna be a long 8 days/nights...

If it was the person across the street, not too surprised.  All she does is look out the front window all day.  My other neighbors wouldn't surprise me either; they're all strange.  Except the 80-something year old woman.  She's normal.

Seemed hit and miss.  LOVED Daniel Bryan.  They were loud for Punk and Lesnar as well.  Kane too.

Booing was only heavy for after Zeb made the anti-Packer comment and after Del Rio finished beating the crap out of Ricardo.

It did seem quite dead during the first part of the Punk/Axel match, the Real American/Uso match and the Wyatt Family match (which is odd, since the Rowan sheep face mask was one of the first things to sell out at the merch stand).  Oh well, at least the people around me were cheering/booing the whole night.

Letter to the fans of the Milwaukee Brewers:

I have always been very grateful for the privilege of playing baseball in the great city of Milwaukee. I am so sorry for letting you down by being in denial for so long and not telling the whole truth about what happened. I am ashamed and extremely embarrassed by the decisions I made. There are no excuses for what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions. I apologize to all Brewers fans for disappointing you.

I came forward because I knew it was time for me to tell the truth and accept my punishment. I understand I have abused your trust and that of our great owner Mark Attanasio and the entire Brewers organization. Admitting my mistakes and asking for your forgiveness are the first steps in what I know will be a lengthy process to prove myself to you again.

It is an honor to represent the people of Wisconsin by wearing a Brewers uniform. I want all of you to know how much I have appreciated the support I've received from so many of you throughout my years with the organization. I will continue to work on improving myself and making amends for what I have done. I am deeply sorry for my actions and I apologize to everyone I have let down. I am committed to doing everything I can to earn back your trust and support.

Sincerely,
Ryan Braun

I think the funny stuff is how some of the media take the holier-than-thou stance and how others justify this with "well, everyone else does it."  Maybe so, and I'll admit I'm not that surprised when something comes out over an athlete cheating, but don't lie about it when you're caught.

Yes.  It is demanded you relinquish all rights to your "Bleacher Buddy."

Is THIS the year you finally wrap your arms around the teddy bear that is BJ raji?
Negative.  Hopefully this is his last year as a Packer.

Clay Matthews great late hit on a QB, or GREATEST late hit on a QB?
The hit itself was nice.  The fact that it happened was beyond stupid.  Message or not... never EVER give another team a free 15 yards/redo of a play (if an offsetting penalty).  And now it looks even dumber considering the Pack lost.

Sucked, but hey--refs ALWAYS screw up calls for whatever team I cheer for, so I expect it.  Probably wouldn't have honestly mattered in the long run because they decided not to cover Boldin the whole game.  Any quick advantage gained would have been pissed away because of that.

Sucked, but hey--refs ALWAYS screw up calls for whatever team I cheer for, so I expect it.  Probably wouldn't have honestly mattered in the long run because they decided not to couldn't cover Boldin the whole game.  Any quick advantage gained would have been pissed away because of that.

Fixed that for you.
When someone can be as open as he was, it was because they flat-out didn't want to bother with him.  I wouldn't be surprised if in their gameplan, it was stated "Don't even worry about Boldin.  He's old and won't do anything."

Although it's true they can't cover anyone anyways.  Enjoy seeing Cutler throw for 400 and at least 3 TDs in both games.  Maybe even 450 at Soldier.

Says the guy that didn't bother watching it, but saw enough posts on the Packer board he lurks at (and heard enough from his co-workers) to piece together that no one was ever on him.

Why are you no longer a Best Buy employee?
Can't take driving alongside idiots on the highway in winter weather anymore.  It's one thing during the rest of the year, but snow and ice is another.  Getting out now so my replacement has time to get experience back there before things start getting crazy next month.

No; going to school for some sort of Associate's Degree.

Doing Anything for Halloween?
Gave out candy in costume with my best friend and his daughter.  We were the Wyatts (I was Bray, he was a combo of Rowan and Harper [sheep mask with flannel jacket]) and she was a zombie.

Marketing.

Thoughts on the 'stache?
Seems like every time he grows one, he either gets hurt or sucks.  So while I find the look comical, I wish he wouldn't grow one.  Granted this one was for a good cause, but still.

What do you want them to do with Rodgers for the rest of the season?   Get him back and try a playoff push?  Or put him on ice... get a better pick?

Why would you sit him when you're only a game and a half back of first in the division?

What was the cause of the stache?
Movember.  Via Wikipedia:

"...an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers, and associated charities. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com.[1] The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health."

I considered posting 2K in the 'goal' thread, but then feared you vets would laugh at me over a handful of posts.  That said, I need to stop answering multiple questions in the same post.

Before the PED thing, I would have said #8 of the Brewers (though he's technically not Jewish).

Now, I'd say Paul Heyman.

Taking all the Rodgers questions in one since they directly go together:

What do you want them to do with Rodgers for the rest of the season?   Get him back and try a playoff push?  Or put him on ice... get a better pick?
I would have been in favor of keeping him out had they lost today.  Even if he gets cleared, I'm worried about it being aggravated; no sense doing that in a lost cause.  However...

Why would you sit him when you're only a game and a half back of first in the division?
Half a game now; and that's the reason why I'd play him.  The chance is still there.  Take the risk in this situation.  They may not be playoff favorites, but they weren't in 2010, the Giants weren't in 2011... you just never know what can happen.

Why would you sit him when you're only a game and a half back of first in the division?
He makes a good point, doesn't he?
Sure does!

What do you think of ties?
I hated them when they happened every week in college football back in the day, but now I actually miss them.  I don't mind them in the pros because they're a novelty.  And honestly, if you get another 15 minutes to play and you're still tied?  You may not deserve to loss, but you don't deserve to win.

Down to about 3K today.

People don't want to pay $122 to sit in -8 degree air temperature and watch SF beat the crap out of them (this time I'm serious, not Dubey Downer; if they had a defense, this would have sold out Monday no matter what).

I live easier knowing I wouldn't have to see them get blown away again.

Moot point now since they sold out after the question was asked.
