So, I've been made aware that maybe, just maybe....I came off a bit bitter the last time we were here.

Crippler sits alone. Not in some empty room like before, but home. His home. The home of men like Adrian Corazon. Men like Donovan King. Men like Maya Nakashima.

Lunatikk Crippler sits ringside, in the announce booth at the SHOOT Project Epicenter. He's decked out tonight in a fairly nice suit and blue tie. A bottle of Mountain Dew sits in front of him, and a cigarette smolders in an ashtray.

Hey, uh....Don't tell the boss I've been smoking in here. The fines the local governments levy these days for smoking inside buildings is insane. Thing is, I haven't been behind an announce booth in a long time. Hell, I don't even remember if I've had the pleasure since I came to the SHOOT Project, so I thought today, in a bit of contrast from before, that I'd have a little bit of....fun.

And why not? Everyone deserves a bit of fun sometimes. So I'm gonna sit here, behind this desk. With my beverage. With my smoke. With my charming, not so brooding self.

And I'm gonna call it as I see it.

Crippler clears his throat exaggeratedly.

BAH GAWD WELCOME TO REVOLUTION 122! IT'S THE RESURRECTION EDITION! We're back from the dead! And what a show we have for you all this evening! Holy fuck, look at this main event! Trey Willett is trying to keep himself relevant after LOSING the World Heavyweight Championship to my little buddy, Maya Nakashima, and is gonna team with his BESTIE, Adrian Corazon, while Maya himself teams with MY bestie, Loco Martinez! WAYWARD SON! WAYWARD SON! WAYWARD SON! It's been reported that Corazon is so happy with this contest, that he could just STAB SOMEONE repeatedly in the liver and kidneys with a screwdriver so many times that Vincent Mallows has pangs of jealousy in his stab wound! YES, I know who Vincent Mallows is! I watched JONNYlution!

AND GOOD LORD, THE VIOLENCE! Jerry Matthews, the Preacher! The Reverend! The EVANGELIST is set to defend his Iron Fist title against WHOEVER THE FUCK WE PLEASE! I'm willing to bet that it's probably Jun Kenshin, but also it's probably not. I just know that it's not me, so Matthews might have a chance at retaining. IE: I'd knock him the fuck out.

And Dan Stein doesn't know who he's facing, either, but I heard his opponent is the real deal. Or the Real Deal. Or Roland Caldwell. Or Jonny Johnson. Or Jake Dominion. Or Shaolin. Or Akuma Satsui. Or Jonas Coleman. Or Diego Reyes. Or Silas Mitchell. You get the idea. Man's tortured himself over the fact that he doesn't know what he's up against. And that? That's the best part about this whole thing.

We got a stellar lineup, top to bottom, guys. Revolution 122 isn't missing a damn thing.

Except me.

And well? I guess you know by now that I'm not too happy about that.

But it's alright. I'm not gonna rest my laurels and wait my turn. I'm gonna go the Epicenter, looking for a fight.

But you already know that. I've said that already. Like, twenty times.

Ya see, Revolution is important to me. It's important to a lot of people. Guys like Eryk Masters and Other Guy, this is it for them. What are they gonna do? Let their talents be wasted in some washed up promotion in New Mexico?

From the boys in the back to the guys selling hot dogs, programs, and eight dollar beers, we all need this. To the fans, the Faithful. They need this.

I need this. I need the SHOOT Project more than it needs me.

I don't consider myself such a hero. Not anymore.  Not like the regular crew. You know...Maya. Loco. Mark Kendrick. Those guys.

I don't need to be a hero. Yeah, it's nice. Rewarding. People love you.

But when I make my way out to that ring, you listen to that crowd.

You might still hear the love.

But you will damn sure hear the respect.

Think you're gonna hear that kind of reaction for someone like Duck?

DURRR! MY NAME IS DUCK! I like stale bread and AFLAC!

Not fuckin' likely. You won't hear it for Kale Tanev or Cameron Ash until they've earned it. You won't hear it for Jason Riley, well, probably ever.

But every time I go out there, for the last seventeen years, you've heard it.

I bust my ass in that ring. Night in, night out. I leave everything out there, for the world to soak in. For everyone to enjoy.

Don't matter who I find waiting for me in that ring on Monday. Don't matter one single bit.

Because whomever I find is gonna have a bit of respect earned by that crowd for standing toe to toe with me.

And they're gonna have a lot of respect beaten into them by me.

They keep coming back for more?

Then they'll have mine.

"I really don't know what to say. The general idea behind these is to set the stage for the match. Get into your opponents head, get the fans fired up, or just impart what the upcoming battle does or doesn't mean to you."

"However, since the powers that be have chosen to keep this match a surprise to the fans, they won't be seeing this until after it's over. I don't even know who my opponent is, so I can't even really lay out the reasons I think I'm better and either look brilliant or completely foolish afterwards."

"There is only one thing that I do know. It's for the Rule of Surrender championship. So that's make the preparation just a little easier. I may not be able to work on a specific strategy, but I can work on my endurance and tolerance for pain. Bring myself and my body to its absolute peak, so there is no one that could make me, well, surrender."

"But, with a few exceptions, nobody's really interested in the exact preparations that will occur. The proof is in the pudding, so they say. And at some point, I need to get online and look up just where in the hell that saying came from."

"So due to the nature of all this, I can't get in the head of my opponent, which also means there's no point in me listing any relevant accomplishments on my own end, so what the hell do I talk about?"

"I have to admit, I sat around for a long time trying to work on that one. Then I finally had to ask myself, who's going to actually sit and watch this after the match was over with, who are going to be ones that actually care enough to listen to my bullshit even after knowing the result?"

"That answer is you. The hardcore fan. The ones that actually are interested in getting to know us just a little bit better each time we appear before them. To bare our soul with either words or in combat."

"So with that in mind, I have only one thing to say to you..."

"GET A LIFE!!!!"

"William Shatner. Saturday Night Live. Ask your parents."

"Seriously though, I don't know what to tell you. Thank you just seems so inadequate. Most of us don't have something to do other than this. I'm pretty sure a good portion of the wrestlers would be in jail if they didn't have this outlet. Quite frankly, some of them probably should be anyway, but I digress."

"Knowing that our talents and our dedication are valued and rewarded means every damn thing to us. It's an honor to be able to do that, and most of us won't forget that. There are quite a few that don't care, and you know who they are, and I highly recommend you don't ask them for autographs. Just a little safety tip from me to you."

"That's right. Just the safety tip."

"All kidding aside, though. I am the Rule of Surrender Champion. Anybody who knows anything about me knows that surrender is something that I just don't do. I can get beaten. You can knock me for enough of a loop where you keep me down for a few seconds. But to acknowledge that I've had enough? That I just don't have the fight left in me?"

"No. There is nobody in this company, nobody on this planet that can make me say that. I am the Rule of Surrender Champion, and I still will be when you see this."

"I may not be able to get in my opponent's head now. But after the fight, you can damn sure bet I'll be in their head then."

Archive / Lunatikk Crippler: Lions, Young and Old (I/II vs. Marz)
« on: May 21, 2014, 06:40:56 PM »

One hundred and three days.

Two thousand four hundred and seventy two hours.

One hundred forty-eight thousand three hundred and twenty minutes.

You get the idea. That's how long it was from the time SHOOT Project's famed Epicenter closed it's doors until the time it was announced that they would re-open.

Revolution 122. Resurrection Edition.

No mention of the lost episode of Revolution, number 121. No mention of the Road to Redemption special edition of Dominion.

No mention of Redemption, period.

And no mention of the name Lunatikk Crippler.

It was a phone call. A simple phone call, from some unnamed intern. Perhaps it was Tim. Perhaps it was Greg. It didn't matter.

Jason didn't call.

Sean didn't call. Josh didn't call.

Not even a text from his friend, Loco. Surely the reigning Master of the Mat would have been among the first to know ahead of time.

But that didn't matter. Lunatikk Crippler was not some artsy-fartsy little schoolgirl who needed that level of attention.

All he needed to know that the doors were open once again. Gladiators coming from far and wide to challenge the lions heralded under the SHOOT Project banner.

And Lunatikk Crippler just sat there, merely cleaning his claws.

A few months ago, we were ringing in the New Year. We were all gearing up for a big show. The Road to Redemption was winding to a close.

I was set to welcome Michael Porterhouse into SHOOT the best way I know how: by forcing him into submission. Tapping him out in front of the world and earning myself a shot that Rule of Surrender championship, held by "Die Hard" Dave Marz.

I guess I was lucky. I got a phone call before I got to the Epicenter, letting me know not to worry about all of that. There was no Porterhouse. There was no title shot. There was no Dave Marz.

There was nothing there. The Epicenter would lay empty for days. Weeks. Months. At that point, none of us even knew if there was going to be a SHOOT Project again.

Some guys took their proverbial balls and went elsewhere. Plying their trade wherever they could.

Some guys took it very hard.

I stayed put.

Was it out of some sort of twisted hope that the company I fought hard for, the company I bled for for the past three years would return? Maybe. It's no secret that I feel that the SHOOT Project is the best of the best, better than all the rest. There was never a level of competition in any other promotion than there was in SHOOT.

I put down roots here, man. I started a business. A bar, yeah, but a business none the less. I'm no fool. I know that I won't be able to wrestle forever. I know that at some point, whether it's a decade from now. Whether it's a year from now, or whether it's fuckin' tomorrow...At some point, my body just won't be able to handle it anymore.

I had a wife. I wanted a family. I didn't wanna move around anymore. Going from city to city, town to town, country to country. I liked that about the SHOOT Project. We had  a product so good, we didn't NEED to tour the country. They came to US.

And then how appropriate.... On Easter Sunday, the SHOOT Project announces it's return. It's resurrection.

Revolution 122 is going to be a gala affair for us. The card is stacked. Two big title defenses for two champions  :-[hungry to prove themselves once again. Prove they are worthy to still hold those titles after such a long layoff.

A stacked main event featuring four of the biggest names this company has seen, including the reigning World Heavyweight Champion teaming with the Master of the Mat to face a pair of former World Champs with a long and bloody history.

New faces and old returning to the fold, coming in to give it one more go. To give it their all, and show the world what they are made of.

And yet, I color myself disappointed. I sit in this empty room, a feeling I know all too fucking well right about now, and I'm disappointed.

Not with the level of competition I'll get a good look at. Not with the fact that top to bottom, it seems like we've got an amazing cast of characters to show off that the SHOOT Project is among he elite in wrestling promotions, hands down.

I'm disappointed that it seems I haven't been invited to the party. The title matches, the main event. I want them, to be sure, but I'm patient to a point for those spots. I spent the better part of a year and a half at the top of the card, chasing after the richest prize in our industry. I understand that there are younger guys out there, new lions, so to speak, hungering for the opportunities that I've earned. I understand that in this profession, you are going to have to constantly challenge yourself. Constantly prove yourself in the squared circle, or your spot, your dreams, your hopes, your goals? Poof. Like a flash of smoke.

It would seem, however, that nobody is going to give me that chance in SHOOT's grand return.

Fine by me. Fact is, I don't need opportunities handed to me.

I prefer to go out there and do what I do best, do what I do better than ANYONE ON THIS EARTH....and earn them.

I prefer to go out there and take them. Make them. Beat the shit out of some poor soul until he has no choice but to just give up. Go out with not a bang, but a soft tapping against the canvas.

Guys like El Asso Wipo need all the help he can get. Give him a spot on the card. He's too busy Sheriffing up in the GREAT STATE OF VERMONT to come out here and earn his keep.

Give the new blood like Zex, and Kale Tanev and Duck their chances to shine. Show the world they truly BELONG here.

So maybe it was smart not to put them into the ring with me. I don't really have a knack at showing people the ropes, unless I'm doing it physically. And with force.

The Crippler cracks his knuckles. The sound echoes across the empty room.

Can't help it. It's not in a lion's nature to nurture anyone but their young. I have no young. Nobody under my wing. Nobody really, I guess, watching my back.

But that's cool. That's fine by me. I'll just do what I do, and keep fighting.

Lions like me, you can call us the old guard, I guess. I'm still in the prime of my career. We can go out there, looking for a fight, but instead? A fight finds US.

Always someone wanting to challenge the leader of the pack. To take his spot. To make him look weak. To try and make themselves look superior.

It's up to the old lions to scratch and claw and fight to keep the young and hungry at bay.

Right now, I guess, I'm an old lion, with nobody coming at me. Nobody tryin' to challenge my spot in the pride.

That confuses me. You'd think there would be someone, nipping at my heels, trying to take a chance at knocking me off my perch. Tryin' to knock me off my high horse, I guess.

This lion don't take to that very well. Nobody wants to step to me? That's cool.

But be prepared for me to step to each and every one of you. No particular order, I guess. At this point, anyone will do.

I'm coming to Revolution 122. Not for cookies. Not for a five dollar beer. Not to buy a new t-shirt.

I'm coming for a FIGHT. Plain and simple. Like I said. ANYONE will do. You might see me coming.

Crippler shrugs.

Might not. But ask yourselves this same question...

Will it matter?

Crippler smirks.

The answer is NO! It's not gonna matter! Why the fuck is it going to matter whether or not you see my fist before I punch you in your fucking mouth? Why is it gonna matter when my foot punctures your fucking fartbox?

All that matters is how hard you fight back! How BADLY do you want to win the fight you find yourself in? How badly do you want to WALK THE FUCK AWAY from the fight you find yourself in?

It's TAP or SNAP. I won't give you long to make the choice, no matter who you are. I don't CARE who it is I fight, so long as I fight. I'll curb  stomp Dan Stein. I'll punch Isaac Entragian right in his fanged fucking mouth, uncaring on whether or not I pull back a fist missing a finger or two.

JUST FUCKING FIGHT ME.

Crippler's smirk has turned into a snarl, a very ugly look on his face.

Just....FIGHT. That's what I'm coming to do. Revolution 122, I'm coming to the Epicenter, and I'll be spoilin' for a fight.

And I won't care who it is. Whether it's a young lion, aching to sink his teeth into a veteran like myself, someone established as a key player in SHOOT just so they can make a name for themselves at my expense.

Or an old, grizzled lion, paranoid that I'm going to come after them anyway, using them to etch my name in stone as one of the best of all time. Afraid that I'm gonna come along and swipe my claws and take their spot as my own.

One thing is for sure, boys. I'm still the same Lunatikk Crippler that the people know and love. That you all know and FEAR.

I'm the same mother fucker who sliced up Jester Smiles for putting his hands on my wife. The same mother fucker who put Jack Reed in a coma, sending him off to who the fuck knows.
I'm the same guy who put the horse lady out to pasture down in New Mexico.

The same. Fucking. Crippler.

Bring the fucking fight to me, or go out to that ring and fucking ask for it. I don't give a shit.

Just so long as I get to put my hands on someone.

And they are more than welcome to reciprocate.

But in the end? They're gonna know that I'm Lunatikk Crippler.

And at Revolution 122, I don't care who you are. This here lion still has teeth.

And I'll be looking to fuckin' hurt you.

The World Heavyweight Champion kicked things off right. Way to lead the charge, Drew!

I'm loving Maya as a strong face champion and "Passion" was a great example of it. Drew finds a way to make the character so likeable and gives you something you can really get behind (gay Maya pun totally intended). At the same time though, he comes of strong as the champion and makes it clear he has no intentions of letting Zex take the title from him, despite the fact that he respects him. Love the connection between this upcoming Maya/Zex match and the King/Maya match too. Good shit, champ.

BUT, FUCK YOUR STRATS, DREW!

Archive / Mystery Opponent Presents: Oh Danny Boy - SCC
« on: May 11, 2014, 08:46:43 PM »

Oh Danny Boy...

The shot opens to show Cade Sydal, sitting alone in a darkened room, shirtless with his multitude of tattoos on display. Smoke wafts through the room, the lone light coming from a window somewhere out of the shot. He runs his tongue across the inside of his lips in mild agitation.

The pipes...the pipes...fuck, you and I both know I don't know how the song goes, so let's just forget about the horribly unmitigated disaster of a terribly easy joke that I just attempted.

Cade just shrugs, leaning back in the solitary chair in the otherwise nondescript room, his recording room as it were.

I wanted to do things differently, believe it or not. I wanted you to know, all along, that it was me...I wanted you to know who was coming for that Sin City Championship you carry around your waist.

See, I'm not like the children you might come across as intimidating to. I'm a grown ass man. A grown ass man that has beaten you soundly several times.

Oh, Danny Boy, I wanted you to know I was coming after your championship belt so you could fear the right thing. So you could cherish your last days with that title, because you and I both know if anyone can take that belt, it's me.

Cade holds his left hand up, palm open before closing nearly all the fingers. Only the index finger remains and he begins shaking it side to side.

Now, don''t get me wrong. I'd hate to be confused for conceited, or dare I even say arrogant? Underneath that douchebag facade, I know the real Dan Stein. I know your real insecurities, your real intentions.

I know that you're a good kid, hell I'd even say a great kid. Loaded with talent and potential that likely you don't even fully realize. Now, you're going to ask who the hell am I to call you a kid, or you would have if you could witness these words before seeing me across the ring from you. How dare I say you have potential, yeah? You're a former World Champ, right?

And that's where you drop the ball, because you were champ for about half a cup of coffee and then...nothing. You weren't ready for the pressures, and that's okay. You'll be back on top again one day, of that I'm absolutely certain.

But before that day, Danny? Before that day you're going to have to suffer at least one more loss, and that comes at Revolution 122: The Resurrection Edition. That comes at my hands, and you will have to watch as I raise the only championship in this company I've never held high above my head.

Hey though, at least you get to say you were there, right? Because, let's not forget, while you've got your fair share of accolades around here...I've got a fuck ton more.

I may even be the most decorated star in SHOOT Project history, we'll have to get one of the historian geeks on it, right? Right.

Oh, Danny Boy, you're good. You're wily. You've picked up a lot of my old tricks, which kinda makes sense. Following me around like a lost little puppy since way back in a little company out in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I promised myself I wouldn't call you by the nickname you always hated, I promised I wouldn't throw that out there...but I lied, Cade Sydal Lite. I lied to myself, and by proxy I lied to you, so I apologize.

'Cause let's face it, everything you've ever done had already been done by me. Had already been done better, by me, I might add. Hell, that's why I'm so comfortable telling you you're a great kid. You couldn't have picked a better role model to pattern yourself off of, in my opinion. You shouldn't frown at being called Cade Sydal Lite, you should wear that shit as a badge of honor man.

So listen, Danny, let's get serious.. Revolution is just around the corner. You have no idea who you're facing, and the first time you see my face your heart is going to drop into the pit of your stomach. Your arms will go limp, your mouth will go dry. You'll know, deep in your soul, that you're fucked. With a capital fuck.

And you won't have long to recover, because the second I step inside that ring I'm coming after you. I'm going to hit you with the NINJAGUIRI so fast you won't even remember anything else. I'm going to take that championship from you in record time, because you aren't ready for me. You wouldn't be ready for me if you knew you were facing me, and with me being the unknown? You have no hope.

Every guess, every instinct of yours, has led you to believe you're facing someone, anyone, else. You would have never imagined you'd be facing me, and on top of my exceptional skill the surprise is going to seal thew deal for me. I'm going to hoist the Sin City Championship high over my head when it's all said and done, and then I'm going to give you a big ole smile.

I'll see you there, buddy.

Oh, Danny Boy, one more thing. It's nothing personal, I just want to make a splash.

Breaking News / BREAKING NEWS: Project: Resurrection Revealed!
« on: April 20, 2014, 10:04:42 AM »

We’ve been preaching and spreading the good word for weeks.

And now, on the third day… the day of resurrection... we rise.

Ladies and gentlemen, rejoice! For now comes the return…

PRESS RELEASE

Breaking news from the office of Jason Johnson has been confirmed as of today. The SHOOT Project, after months of vacation, is returning to the airwaves. While an official press conference was not called, Mr. Johnson has issued a formal statement regarding the matter. A few highlights from the statement include:

”...[W]e are coming back with a vengeance and I’m sure the fans of the SHOOT Project, the SHOOT Nation, as it were, are excited for it.”

Mr. Johnson has confirmed that this is not a reboot of the company, but a continuation of the great product that has enthralled the fans of professional wrestling for the better part of 14 years.

”...[A]ll champions will remain in place, should they choose to renew their contracts. After all, this was merely a vacation, not an official closing. In fact, without going into a terrible amount of detail, two of our champions will be defending their titles on our return show, Revolution 122: The Resurrection Edition.”

The biggest news here is that the SHOOT Project will be implementing some new, unique features to their brand. Though Mr. Johnson would not go into detail about many of them, he did have this to say:

”I’m sure some of the things we put out will come off as copying other promotions, or something like that, but, these are ideas that we’ve been spitballing about since before we went on vacation. So, you know, alot of these ideas were thought of before anyone actually put them into practice.”

And one of those ideas? Well, Mr. Johnson was gracious enough to allow the details of one of the new features to be released. Details are below.

The Free Agent System

“The SHOOT Project’s ‘Free Agent Initiative’ is an experimental way to allow talent to appear on a SHOOT Project show without a full commitment. For the talent out there, sometimes choosing a new promotion, or even your first promotion can be daunting. We at the SHOOT Project understand that. You have the ability to ask for a booking on one of our shows and receive it. And, here’s the beauty of it, you don’t even have to face a SHOOT Project talent if you don’t want to.

If two talents not affiliated with SHOOT wish to clash on our show, we welcome it! And, for all the other promotions out there: do you have talent that you just can’t seem to fit on your cards? Send them our way for a one off match! We’ll not only promote the match, but we’ll also promote your promotion in the process.

The key here is that there is no commitment from the talent to stay. If it’s just one match you’re looking for, that’s what you’ll get. If you want to have more than one, but not become a full roster member, we can accommodate that too! And, if at any time you decide you don’t want to continue, you are free to go, no questions asked. Conversely, if you decide you want to be a part of SHOOT, you’re welcome to join the official roster, where you will receive the benefits of being able to contend for championships.”

Indeed, the SHOOT Project appears ready to make some waves, even after 14 years of being in business. Rumour has it, that even a certain tournament is coming up soon where a new format is to be revealed, though Mr. Johnson would not comment on that. He did, however, have this to say:

”I think, at this point in our tenure, we can move beyond the ‘Not Elitists, Just Elite’ stigma we’ve been presenting. Now it’s all about being all grown up and fully evolved. Now, SHOOT Project is seeking to simply bring the very best in professional wrestling to the world.”

This is truly big news for the world of professional wrestling. As for when the bookings and and official date for the return card would be released, Mr. Johnson had this to say:

”All I can say on that matter is ‘soon.’ Keep checking Roughkut.com and the SHOOT Project website for details. In fact, in may be sooner than you think.”

Are you excited, wrestling fans? I know many people in the wrestling world sure are!

Stay tuned to SHOOTProject.com for all the details!

Breaking News / BREAKING NEWS: SHOOT PROJECT PRESENTS SPECIAL SHOW CYCLE
« on: November 26, 2013, 07:52:12 PM »
The bookings for the next SHOOT Project show were released this evening. And, in a pleasant surprise, it was revealed that, in addition to Revolution 121, the road to REDEMPTION will feature Dominion 15: Special Road to Redemption Edition!

BOTH of the cards are stacked, with five matches each.

Revolution 121 boasts a HUGE main event, as Isaac Entragian will go one on one with Obsidian inside a steel cage! Also on that card, Dan Stein will defend the Sin City Championship against Corey Lazarus. Angel Thorne will go one on one with another newcomer in Xander Ryan. And THAT match will be contested under Iron Fist rules as it is a Number One Contender's Match for the Iron Fist Championship. The SHOOT Nation will also see the debut of Scotty Adams as he takes on one of SHOOT Project's international Soldiers from Mexico's RCW, Gabriel Knight. And, last but certainly not least for Revolution, Jaime Alejandro looks to get on the winning path as he takes on Thomas Manchester Black!

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!

Dominion 15 ALSO boasts an amazing main event as Jacob Mephisto, Laura Seton, and Jester Smiles square off against World Heavyweight Champion Maya Nakashima, 2013 Master of the Mat Loco Martinez, and Former World Heavyweight Champion Donovan King in Six-Man Tag Team Action! Dominion also boasts a Non-Title Champions' Showcase when Iron Fist Champion Jerry Matthews will take on Rule of Surrender Champion Dave Marz. Also on the card is a Three-Way Submission Elimination Match as Leo Stanton, Michael Porterhouse, and Lunatikk Crippler collide with the winner gaining a shot at the Rule of Surrender Championship! The SHOOT Nation will also see the return of Ja Gi Kyung-Moon to SHOOT Project competition as he takes on Flay Rios. And, finally, Valentine Lionheart goes one on one with Johnny Napalm!

It's going to be a special show cycle as the SHOOT Project rolls on towards REDEMPTION!

I had a match from Rich and then one from u that i couldn't open. Josh told me to go with Rich's. If it was meant to be a separate seg i can add it in in the morning. The way it was worded was that the seg was supposed to be in place of the match. Everyone needs to communicate when doing these things.

Revolution / False Neon & The Natural Order (v. King)
« on: November 12, 2013, 09:24:19 PM »

So, we meet again, Donovan. I was wondering when they’d put you in my path again.

Our scene opens on the balcony of Jacob Mephisto’s Las Vegas condo. He sits in a plastic outdoor chair, looking out to the Las Vegas Strip, a short distance away. The sun has begun to sink over the horizon, casting a gold and violet light over the city. The lights of the strip have come on, the artificial neon mingling with the natural beauty of the dying light of day. In the distance, we can see the area around the brightly lit strip going darker and darker.

You know, King, I’ve been giving a lot of thought to how I should approach you going into Revolution 120. I thought about reminiscing over how I nearly destroyed you a while back. I thought about rubbing in the fact that you, a former two time World Heavyweight Champion, couldn’t beat me. I thought about telling you that after all your tough talk, after all of your posturing, after all of your fighting spirit attitude blazed through the darkness, you were beaten. I even thought about reminding you how close you came to having your career ended at my hands.

A clicking sound is heard. An orange flame appears from the lighter in Jacob’s hand. He touches it to the tip of the cigar he has put in his mouth. A few seconds pass as the tip of the cigar catches. The lighter is extinguished as gray smoke begins to twist and writhe skyward. Jacob exhales the gray cigar smoke before continuing.

But, that would be petty. Not only that, but it would be stupid. You see, King, let’s be real with one another from the get go. We both know you were in no condition to be competing the last time we met. That was fairly evident based on what happened. So, even though I have a victory… a decisive victory… over you, it was tainted by injury.

Mephisto takes a long pull from the cigar. He allows the smoke to drift slowly from his mouth, the smoke rolling out and slowly drifting into the night sky. He breathes out the remaining smoke and takes a long look at the ever darkening horizon.

You see, Donovan, now you’re in much better shape. I’d be a fool to believe anything less than a world class fight is what awaits me at Revolution. But, I have to wonder. Why now? You’ve been preoccupied with Sammy Rochester… and now with your former best friend, Jester Smiles. So, why step back into the ring with me? I mean, sure, maybe you’re settling an old score. But, is it really an old score for you? I mean, I did try to warn you about your injuries last time. But, maybe you, along with the idiot fans and analysts, think I took things too far. Maybe that’s it. Or maybe, just maybe, you’re stepping up for your new best good friend, Maya Nakashima.

He flicks the accumulated ash from the end of his cigar.

Take a look at this sight, King.

The camera pans to show the view from the balcony. The sky is growing darker, causing the area around the strip to seemingly disappear. Still, the strip blazes with neon light. Headlights from many cars further light the street.

During the day, one could look out and see much more than the false neon. You can see the natural beauty of Las Vegas. You can see the desert. You can see it all for what it really is. But, as the night creeps in, the surroundings are swallowed by the darkness. Yet, the strip blazes with neon. It’s a little light in the dark. That’s just like men like you and Maya. Men like the two of you are lights in the darkness. But, just like the strip out there, you’re false. The blazing neon provides the illusion of safety and comfort. But, just because the desert is blanketed in darkness, it doesn’t mean it’s not there. You see, some people see the desert as a barren wasteland. But, it’s really a thing of beauty. When the sun rises and sets, the beautiful hues it casts can bring a man to tears. But, that little light in the darkness, that illusion of comfort and safety, that false neon… it chokes out the natural beauty.

Mephisto slowly rises from his seat. He casually walks to the railing of the balcony, resting his arms on it and peering out at the view before him.

That’s what men like you and Maya truly represent, King. Me like me? We’re the natural beauty. We’re what is swallowed by the darkness. But, we accept that. We accept the natural order of things. Daylight dies. But, the sun rises again in the morning. You can’t accept that. You are the false neon. You have to force the light into the darkness, to disrupt the natural order, to destroy the natural beauty of things.

Mephisto takes another drag of the cigar. He releases the smoke into the air.

You know, Donovan, I made a promise. I made a promise not to touch Maya. And I haven’t. Some would say that I am nefarious. Some would say I set him up for Laura. But, I mean, I can’t control the actions of others, right? I made no such promise about you. But, you have nothing to fear from me outside the ring. I don’t need to come after you. You set yourself up. After all, if I am a bad guy? Man, after what you did to your friend? You’re a world class villain.

Mephisto cracks a smirk, looking into the camera with those pale gray eyes. Those eyes sparkle with some hidden emotion, but it’s unclear which.

You will probably come into this match looking to blow off some steam. Maybe you’re just looking for a fight. Maybe, somewhere in your head, you’re looking for a little retribution. Maybe, deep down, you’re standing up for a friend. Maybe all of that is true. Or maybe, just maybe, you are looking for a “bad guy” to put down; something to make you feel better about yourself.

Because, King, after Revolution 119, I can see your temper is flaring. But why? Because your friend called you out on what you’ve been doing? And as for your retribution? Are you really going to blame me for what happened the last time we met? And, why stand up for little Maya? He’s the World Heavyweight Champion. He can handle himself. And, if I’m being honest here, does he need a friend like you? How long before you take something of his that he once held dear?

Mephisto slowly cocks his head to the side, eyes flashing as he peers into the camera.

You’re a selfish man, King. You make it seem like everything you are about it the SHOOT Project. But, in truth, it’s always been about you. But, selfish isn’t stupid. And selfish doesn’t make you less dangerous.

Mephisto grows serious as he straightens his head. He takes a long pull from the cigar, breathing the gray smoke out through his nostrils.

You’re healthy now. I get that. I know what I am facing. I’m facing a healthy Donovan King. I’m stepping into the ring, not with the man who limped to the ring last time we met, but with the man who won the first Primus. I’m going to stand across from the man who held the World Heavyweight Championship for 11 months. The man who forced Lunatikk Crippler to submit. The man who tapped out Jonny Johnson. The only other man to submit Sammy Rochester. Yea. I get it. I’m going to face THE Donovan King. Not the injured shell I got last time.

And that suits me just fine. You’re going to help me send a message, King. You and I, we’re going to be in one hell of a fight. But, whether you kick my ass all over the Epicenter, or whether I dissect you piece by piece in the middle of the ring, you’re going to help me send a message to the current World Heavyweight Champion.

That message?

Mephisto chuckles lightly.

Jacob Mephisto doesn’t just go away. And even the brightest false neon can burn out. And eventually? The dark surroundings come to light… natural light. Because you can shove it into the darkness all you want. You can provide false HOPE to the people. The natural order always restores itself. It’s just a matter of time.

Jacob smiles broadly, the gesture never reaching his eyes.

And you already know the rest.

Black.
