What influences drove you to create Maya?

Maya started out as an over the top rock star, so initially it was just based on my obsession with Japan's music at the time. There was a huge shift towards glittery pop, effeminate, styles so... Maya, and his at the time partner Shinya, were just kinda born from that fad. As time went on he got a lot more serious and lost A LOT of his glittery overflow, but yeah, that's how Maya started.

Never say never, I suppose. Kenji has always been a special character to me because it was literally my first original character and has lasted me until recently when I kinda broke out as Maya.

However, with Maya as the World Champion he's going to be the one getting a majority of my attention and that's kinda what I wanted my focus to be on when SHOOT re-opened. So, while it isn't impossible... I wouldn't hold my breath at the moment.

Did you look at other homosexual wrestlers in e-wrestling and base any traits off them? Did you find recurring traits you decided to avoid?

Oh very much so, I remembered that A LOT of homosexual/transgender characters were always treated as comedy gimmick characters. They would write with a lisp, throw their wrists around, and be nothing more than a laughing stock. While the goal was to create an effeminate team in Shinya and Maya, it was never going to be something of a laughing stock and it would never be the stereotypical gay couple. So adamant I was about this, that at certain times I would write Maya with the idea in my head that he was your average woman. He didn't act towards Shinya any differently because the concept of being together was not foreign and it was not ever meant to be a sideshow, I treated them as a perfectly normal couple that happened to be at both ends male.

What are your favorite sports teams?

Baseball: Dodgers (even though I can't watch them because of Time Warner Cable's fuck up).
Hockey: Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators.
Basketball: No.
Football: The Raiders (so basically the same as Basketball)
College Football: South Carolina Gamecocks (I started liking them because the abbreviation for their school was S.CAR)

Probably in terms of "favorite" would be like Xenogears, Tales of Xillia, and Kingdom Hearts. Ironically, I stopped "recording" them because they had the least amount of popularity and continuing them would have been an act of futility.

It's been pretty centered around Warframe and Mass Effect lately so... I'd say start there, if you like it then who knows what else you could find.

1. I'll lump the Mass Effect Trilogy into one pick, Tales of Vesparia, aaaand...uhh... I'll say Lost Oddyssey

2. Chrono Trigger/Cross (lumping again), Xenogears, Final Fantasy 7 (I'm a Square Kid, what can I say)

3. Yes, for the 360 and maybe the PS4 when I get one around Xmas time.

I am a graduate of Cal State University at San Bernardino. The plan is to get paid. Bill cannot borrow a dollar.

There is no way you'd have phrased that how you did if you were British.

What field was your degree in?

Creative Writing.

I think I'd want to take over Isaac, maybe because I'm very familiar with Jer's work and I've worked with him for so long.
