I enjoyed Cop Out a lot, actually.  That and The Other Guys were relatively underrated, for me.

Last I saw was Lethal Weapn 4 last night. Before that I burned my retinas with 30 seconds of Twilight when I work up to go to work and the darling other half was watching it.

Last movie I saw at the cinemas was Tron.

So, I finally watched Saw 3D: The Final Chapter.

For a Saw fan, it was nice to see this series finally end, but I have to admit, it sorta went downhill quick.

Saw 1-3, to me, were pretty good, 4 and 5 were bad, 6 STARTED to make a turn in the right direction, but 7 was definitely not a terrific way to end.

From a nostalgia stand point, though, the Saw series started as the little indy movie that could, and it did become a huge phenomenon. It's just too bad the quality had to drop so intensely.

Fanboys  -  decent, enjoyable as a quasi star wars geek.  Lots of cameos.

I STILL haven't gotten to see that all the way through.  I fell asleep through it the last time I was watching and haven't had a chance since.

I can't recommend it highly enough.  Its weird that its basically a foreign film there is so much foreign dialogue as well as subtitles, but its great and I love Tarantino's long slow building scenes with great dialogue.  He builds tension so well in so many scenes and its just 2 people sitting across from one another or a group of people in a tavern.

Gonna watch The Natural when I get home tonight, then probably True Grit (again) at the Alamo Drafthouse.

The most amazing Western I've ever seen.  Simply perfect.

Agreed. It blew John Wayne's ass out of the water. There has never been a more overrated actor in history.

So....I watched The Natural last night. And I think I picked up on something.

SPOILER ALERT (27 years after the fact)

I think Glenn Close's character is actually an angel. Everytime she's shown in the movie she's wearing white. Including a few times with an aura behind her. She rarely interacts with anyone that isn't Roy Hobbs. In the climactic scene she has someone pass Hobbs a note in the dugout that his son is at the game (the son is shown sitting with her earlier in the scene), but when Hobbs looks into the stands for his son, he's not there.

Cut to the home run that clinches the pennant and ends the movie on a happy note, Roy is rounding the bases and bleeding through his jersey. Hobbs was shot very early on in the movie and its revealed toward the end that the bullet had been in stomach since and had torn away the lining of his stomach, the doctor told him that he would have to retire, and that if he didn't his stomach could burst leaving him dead on the spot.

So, the waist line of Hobbs jersey is filling with blood as he finishes his home run trot, the screen goes black and cuts to the him playing catch with his son in a field while Glenn Close still all in white looks on happily.

So...Was his son dead? Is that, along with the gunshot wound why he was away from the game for so long? Did he die after the game ended? Ahhhhhh! *brain explodes*

I'll just put this on my movie conspiracy theory shelf with....

SPOILERS OVER

The theory that all of Ferris Bueller's Day Off was a figment of Cameron's imagination. Its the 80s answer to Fight Club. Think about it. Ferris Bueller is Tyler Durden. Sloane is Marla Singer. You'll never watch that movie the same way again.

More on that theory here!

And heres a video....

Saw The Mechanic on Saturday. Was a fun action flick. Ben Foster is a fucking star, Jason Statham is the only good action star we've had since Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and Van Damme finished up their great movies in the early 90's (though Stallone's done a hell of a job of a comeback, and some love should be given to Willis for actually still having a career despite just being John McClane over and over), and Donald Sutherland being so comfortable in his recent roles of "elder statesman whose time on this planet is short" is both comforting and creepy. Solid action flick, 7/10, and would have been better with just a little bit more time to show Foster's character training. Worth a watch, as anything with Foster and Statham are.

Also caught Hellboy II yesterday before heading out to do some necessary errands. Fun movie, a bit better than the original overall (though the villain wasn't nearly as awesome), and del Toro's direction is superb in anything he does. I'm convinced that a movie done by him, Neil Blongenkamp, and Peter Jackson would make my dick so hard it would explode. Ron Perlman was born to be Hellboy, Selma Blair is beautiful, and did I mention the amazing special effects? Not nearly as much CGI as the first one, just enough to be used properly, which means that most of the effects and creatures were practical effects and that makes them all the more spectacular.
